Final Thoughts

If we could see or hear someone’s final thoughts, would they be profound, enlightening… or just something simple and random?

What if that “final thought” helped paint a picture of an absurd or silly situation that contributed to the person’s untimely demise? Would it make us smile?

Those questions sparked the inspiration for this series of cartoons.

In reality, death isn’t funny. Every one of us will come face-to-face with it sooner or later — whether it’s our own, or the loss of a beloved pet, friend, or family member.

Nobody’s getting out of this “being human” thing alive.

So why take it so seriously all the time?

Rather than being followed around by the gloomy shadow of death for the rest of my life, I’d rather keep finding ways to laugh at the bastard instead.
Perhaps we’d all feel a little lighter if we laughed at death while we could… and saved the crying for when we can’t.

We were born into this world naked and screaming — crying because, deep down, we somehow knew we’d been propelled into a no-win situation. From the moment of our birth, we’ve been on a collision course with an inevitable ending, and the odds are stacked heavily against us: the success rate of death is still holding steady at 100%.

On that cheery note, I hope death takes its sweet time getting to you — and to everyone you love and cherish. May you have a long and happy life filled with smiles, laughter, and millions of happy memories along the way.

In the meantime, I’d love to hear your thoughts and share more smiles with you on this:

  • What do you think your final thoughts will be?
  • What would you like them to be?
  • Better still, if you could imagine twisting yours into something absurdly funny that points to a more humorous fate — what could your own final thoughts be?

Share them here, and I may even turn some of them into a cartoon.
